Justopia

It is the embodiment of the place we desire; sustainable, evolving, constantly renewing according to changing human needs and preserving the diverse cultures, identities, and authenticity of the place in which we live.
And since all issues of social justice have a spatial dimension, it was necessary to find a common vision among workers and those interested in the urban context, including urbanists, engineers, specialists in the fields of urbanization, law, community action actors, influential people and decision-makers, which – that is, the vision – would build interventions and formulate policies. Influential and effective work that contributes to building sustainable cities and communities.

Urban Camp

Urban Camp was launched as a first stage within a strategic urban lab at the city level. It is a focused research think. This think tank acts as an innovative generator for quick urban solutions within the current post-disaster context of the city. It ensures, in a participatory manner with active local partners, and through proposed experimental solutions and ideas, that the emergency transformations in the social, urban and economic fabric in the recovery phase are more mature, sustainable, and suitable for life.

And since the local context in Aleppo is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, in which local administrations contribute to the structural evaluation of buildings process, it is crucial to invest the current stage in thinking about different methodologies and innovative experimental methods to deal with urban changes that occur in the city during the recovery phase, especially since the size of the damage that resulted from the earthquake disaster caused many problems related to housing and damage at the community’s economic level, whether in slum areas, the old city, the rest of the city, or even in the countryside.

The camp aims to find innovative and sustainable methodologies and experimental methods capable of dealing with urban changes and ensuring the quality of life in the city.
